Visible changes are taking place at Kuper Field with the Minden Public Schools outdoor facility renovation project well underway. The project focuses on safety and accessibility for athletes and spectators through improvements to the grandstand, field lighting, restrooms/concessions, grading/drainage, and the track itself.
The facility will become ADA compliant with improvements in several areas. Handicap parking across from the track, handicap seating in both visitor bleachers and the grandstand, wider bleacher rows, handrails going up the aisles of the grandstand, sidewalks, and accessibility points from multiple directions throughout will provide a better experience for mobility challenged individuals attending events at the facility.
“The safety end of it is how everything has been arranged for field events,” Superintendent Jim Widdifield explained. “Field events will be placed logistically so people can get to and from different areas but also keep the area open for spectators and athletes.”
