Minden Rallies To Defeat Class B Rated Lexington

The Minden Lady Whippets basketball team faced one of the toughest tests on its schedule on Dec. 7 when they hosted the Class B eighth-ranked Lexington Minutemaids at C.L. Jones Gymnasium.
It was all Lexington in the first half and all Minden in the second half. The Class C-1 Whippets 27 point second half outburst propelled Minden to a 50-37 victory.
“This was a great tough fought win for our team,” said Minden head coach Rick Chramosta. “We had many players contribute to the victory over a state-rated Class B team. Good defense throughout the game was the difference and our rebounding was exceptional.”
Minden placed three players in double-digits led by freshman Brooke Kissinger with a game-high 19 points which included her making five three-pointers.
Bailie Muller added 11 points and 15 key rebounds in the win while Hallie Bauer chipped in with ten points.
Lexington got off to a fast start on the road racing to a seven point lead, 17-10, after one period of play. Heidi Mandelko led Lex with 13 points while Kissinger kept Minden close scoring six of the ten points on two three-pointers.
