Minden Runs In Class C Division At UNK Classic
The Minden Whippets girls and boys cross country teams were back in action on Sept. 26 competing in the University of Nebraska-kearney High School Classic held at the Kearney Country Club.
The Lady Whippets finished with a ninth place team finish at the site of the 2011 Nebraska State Cross Country Championships.
Minden had a total of 171 to take ninth at the meet. Sidney won the Class C girls title with a score of 29 followed by Fort Calhoun with 68 and Columbus Scotus with 76.
Sydney Phillips led the squad with a 24th place finish, completing the challenging course in a time of 17:14.8.
Jessica Dolan was the second Whippet to cross the finish line in 35th position in a clocking of 17:47.1 Mackenzie Nelsen was the third Minden runner placing 50th in a time of 18:14.6.
Samantha Hoskins and Jennifer Sorensen completed the girls varsity team. Hoskins placed 83rd for Minden in a time of 19:42.8 while Sorensen was 132nd in a time of 23:38.1.
The Minden boys team also cracked the top 15 teams in Class C. The Dawgs finished 13th overall with a team total of 191. Scotus won the C boys team championship with 56 followed by Cozad with 59 and Ogallala with 77.
