Minden School Board Approves District Audit

The Minden Public Schools Board of Education held their regular monthly meeting on November 14. During public comment the board heard presentations from two C.L. Jones Middle School student council members and the Minden Band Boosters.

CLJ student council president Sophie Birkestrand and vice president Mattie Morey shared what the middle school student council has been working on and upcoming activities for the school year. The girls invited everyone to enjoy the CLJ talent show taking place later in the week and answered questions from the board to complete their presentation.

The Minden Band Boosters attended the meeting to present a check for $32,500 to the board for the purchase of new marching band uniforms that were delivered at the end of October. The parent group noted over $25,000 of the funds raised came from their recycling efforts. They also emphasized the impressive fundraising was made possible by a ton of community support.

The board approved the consent agenda including minutes from the October 10 and 25 meetings, financial reports, and expenditures and claims for payment. Administrators from each building added to their reports to the board during the meeting. High School Principal Don Hosick thanked everyone for their support of the school’s fall activities.
