Technology is making the 2021 speech season possible while ensuring safety for students, coaches, and judges in an activity that can prove difficult to practice social distancing. Virtual speech meets have changed the atmosphere and delivery of performances, but the Minden Speech Team has adapted well and seen positive results during the first meets of the season.
The Minden Speech Team got the season off to a good start at the Adams Central meet on January 9 with nine medal winners and one event champion. Earning medals for the Whippets were Grace Lee, 1st, Novice Humorous Prose; Megan Althouse, 2nd, Novice Informative; Brooks Glanzer, 3rd, Varsity Extemporaneous; Luke Johnson, 4th, Novice Entertainment; Trinity Petty, 4th, Novice Poetry; Jessie Tunnell, 6th, Novice Persuasive; Andre Casillas, 6th, Varsity Serious Prose; Raegan Horner, Sara Shirley, and Evan Porter, 6th, Varsity Oral Interpretation of Drama; and Peyton Schoone and Connor Carpenter, 6th, Varsity Duet Acting.
