Kuper Field was the site for the eight-team 2011 Minden 9-10 Invitational held on April 5 in warm and windy conditions.
The Lady Whippets placed third with a team total of 103. Holdrege edged Adams Central 111 to 107 for the team title with the Patriots earning second place.
Leading the way for the young Whippets was gold medalist Sydney Phillips. Phillips won the girls 3,200-meter run in a time of 13:19.
Kelsey Emal won two medals taking second in the 100-meters (13.72) and fourth in the 200-meters (29.22).
Brooke Kissinger was second in the 400-meters in a time of 1:03.2 while Olivia Steen garnered second place honors in the high jump, clearing 4’9″.
Rachel Rutt was third in the triple jump (31’2″) while Katlyn Simonton was third in the discus with an effort of 89’4″. Amy Nielsen also earned a bronze medal in the pole vault, topping 6’0″.
The Minden boys came away with a fifth place finish scoring 46 points. Broken Bow and Cozad tied for the team championship both scoring 100 points while Adams Central was third with 96 points.
