Minden Wins Fourth Straight SWC Crown

The Minden Whippet boys basketball team found their groove at the right time entering the 2013 Southwest Conference tournament. Minden had lost three straight close contests and righted the ship and won the SWC boys title for a fourth straight year on Saturday in North Platte.

The Whippets came into the SWC as the fourth-seed and won three straight over Gothenburg, Valentine and Ainsworth.

Minden improves its season record to 9-9 with Cozad and Gothenburg visiting Minden on Friday and Saturday.

The Whippets completed their march to the SWC title on Saturday playing the second-seeded Ainsworth Bulldogs in the final in North Platte. The Dawgs were powered to the 73-55 victory behind 17 points each from Jonas Lovin and RJ Watson and Isaac Carlson with 13.
