Head Minden Whippet girls golf coach Steve Exstrom has been coaching golf for 21 season. With the most recent girls golf Class C-4 district championship, Coach Exstrom has accumulated enough points to earn the Nebraska Coaches Association Level IV coaching milestone award. Based on current historical records by the by NCA, only five boys golf coaches and two girls golf coaches have achieved this coaching milestone in the state of Nebraska.
Exstrom’s golf coaching career began with implementation of a new golf program established in Bertrand back in 1992. “We started a boys golf team when Bertrand planned and built what is known as the Hi-Line Golf Course in 1991,” commented Coach Exstrom. “We also were fortunate to be good enough to qualify for the state tournament that year and the next. That was the beginning of my coaching career and I’ve enjoyed every minute since then.”
