The Minden Whippets girls volleyball team has had an impressive season and looked to keep that momentum going as they hosted subdistricts beginning on October 24. The first round saw the number one seed Whippets take on St.Paul Wildcats. The first set was more competitive than one would have expected but Minden won all three sets 25-23, 25-13 and 25-15. Sophomore Mattie Kamery led the way for the Whippets offense totaling fifteen kills, eleven assists, one ace and eight digs. Senior Bailey Rogers led the way on defense for Minden totaling sixteen digs.
The second round of subdistricts did not go the way Minden had planned, as their winning streak was halted against the number two seed Grand Island Central Catholic Crusaders. Grand Island Central Catholic is now responsible for two of Minden’s three total losses on the year. All three sets were highly competitive but Minden ended up dropping all three with a score of 20-25, 18-25 and 19-25.
With the most recent defeat for Minden, it brings their seasonal record to 30-3. The Whippets will look to get back on track as they make their case for a state bid.
