There’s a new place to eat in Minden. Mookies can be found on the corner of 5th Street and Colorado, on the west side of the square.
Katie Dornhoff, the manager of Mookies, said the idea came from Alec Geist, the owner, who called her and together they came up with the concept for a new dining experience for the people of Minden.
Geist graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts in Theology. After serving four years in the Navy, he worked in managerial positions of communications companies. In August 2004, Geist was hired as the chief opperations officer of Pinpoint Holdings. He eventually was promoted to president and CEO. He is currently the owner of Geist LLC and is working with Optica Network Technologies.
“We wanted to keep an atmosphere, fun with a cozy twist,” Dornhoff said, “somewhere between a diner and ritzy.” She went on to say that they also had Kearney in mind, with many in the city that like to destination dine.
