The Minden Board of Education held its monthly meeting on Monday, June 10 in the C.L. Jones Media Center with board president Dr. Julie Krull absent.
The first order of business in the meat of the agenda was the official board action of hiring teachers.
The board first approved a contract to Mallory Nutt for fourth through eighth grade to teach Health/Physical Education pending a back ground check.
The second item up for vote was to make a 1/2 time position into a full time position giving it a more stability. Minden Principal Don Hosick indicated to the board that this person would have a new title of Academic Intervention and would assist struggling students with class work and help students become more successful in the classroom.
Hosick then told the board his recommendation for the position be filled by Drew Carlton who was on staff at MPS two years ago. The board approved Nutt, Carlson and the increased full-time teaching position.
