A little more than one year after the Minden Public Schools bus barn burned down, construction of a new and bigger bus barn is nearly complete. Superintendent James Widdifield informed school board members at the August 12 regular meeting that electricians were expected to finish by the end of the week and that dirt work was nearly done. He anticipates beginning a punch list of the project with W Design engineers early next week.
The project saw adjustments to the original plan as it was completed resulting in two change orders for the board’s consideration. Change order #1 was for an upgrade in culvert sizing per the City of Minden’s request and additional sidewalk on the rear of the building as required by the State Fire Marshal. Change order #2 was to have the gas line moved from one side of the building to the other for practical tie-in purposes.
The work noted in both change orders is already complete and the board approved the formal requests for both change orders.
