Myron Morris

Myron L. Morris, 78, of Minden, passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings after a brave fight with cancer. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 10, 2022 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden with the Rev. Donald Becker officiating. The service will be streamed to the church’s YouTube page. Private family interment with military honors will be held at a later date at Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Craig Funeral Home in Minden. Memorials in Myron’s honor are kindly suggested to the family for later designation. Arrangements are under the care of Craig Funeral Home in Minden. 

     Myron LeRoy Morris was born on April 12, 1944 in Minden, NE to Eldon and Ellen (Jacobsen) Morris. He grew up in Upland, NE and attended Upland School and finished his education at Minden High School graduating in 1963. Myron was drafted into the Army and served from 1966 until 1968 completing a tour in Germany. 

     He met the love of his life, Sheryl Ann Larsen, while she was working at Arnies Drive Inn where he would order a vanilla Coke and double mint gum on a daily basis. They married on July 13, 1969.They were blessed with two children, Tammy Lee and Sandy Sue. 

     After serving in the Army he returned to Minden working for Talbert Land Leveling. In 1969, Myron began working for the Kearney County Roads Department. After 48 years, Myron retired from the Roads Department in 2017. Myron loved driving his maintainer and any other piece of large machinery. He was very particular and loved what he did. Upon retirement, he worked part time for Favinger Farms moving dirt and driving grain trucks up until his death. 

     Myron loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed spending time at the race track working on the pit crew or watching from the stands. He was an active member of the JCT 6/10 Cruzerz car club.  Myron could build or repair anything. He was there for anyone anytime they called. He was also a huge help for Sheryl’s in-home daycare for 40 years where he enjoyed playing Santa Claus every Christmas for the kids. 

     Those left to cherish his memory include: his wife, Sheryl Morris, daughters Tammy (Tony) Ellis of Minden, Sandy (Pat) Long of Upland. Grandchildren: Melissa (Jess) Myers, Amanda (Tyler) Rasmussen, Cheyanne Ellis, Tanner Ellis, Lex and Lane Long. Great-Grandchildren: Andrew Everett Myers, Ellis Bradley and Zade Myron Rasmussen. Sister: Carol (Leon) Burge of Yuma, Arizona. Brother-in-law Marlin (Linda) Larsen. Close family friend/like-a-daughter Rachel (Shada) Pittner. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. 

     He was preceded in death by his parents Eldon and Ellen Morris, brothers: Carlton Morris and Merlin Morris. In-laws Leo and Esther Larsen.

     Tributes and memories can be shared with the family at
