New Library Director Begins Work At Jensen Memorial

Jensen Memorial Library Director Jackie Webster said she is “a little bit more settled” having finished her first month on the job.
“I’m still learning the ropes,” she said, “working with the Board on revising policies, looking at procedures, finding out what’s working, what’s not.”
She just finished working with library staff to repackage and reorganize the library’s collection of
audiobooks, which Webster said would increase user-friendliness and hopefully increase circulation.
Webster, a theater major in college, attended Loretta Heights College in Denver for three years. She then took a year off before returning to school at Chadron State College. She spent a summer working at the Ft. Robinson Post Playhouse before getting married and moving to Iowa where she began her library career.
She started as a part time children’s clerk at the Spencer Public Library and then was promoted to full-time adult clerk.
After working as the assistant director of the Spencer library for several years, she moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where she worked for nine years as the Director of an academic library.
