The Minden High School marching band is looking to the future with a new uniform design that combines the school colors, a modern design, and classic elements. Procuring new uniforms for the band has been a priority for new Band instructor Matt Stubbs since he joined the Whippet teaching staff.
“The typical lifespan for band uniforms is 15-20 years. These are about 16 years old and they’ve been used pretty hard. Things are starting to tear, starting to rip, velcro stopped working in spots, suspenders are falling apart, just typical wear and tear,” Stubbs explained.
Purchasing new uniforms provides an opportunity for the band to change its look. Stubbs used that chance to make a big change that several parents and patrons have been requesting.
