The purchase 12 years ago of the former Presbyterian Church inspired Ann Marie Schwenke of Minden to pursue a dream of owning her own hair salon, and the rich interior of the 1909 church provided the cosmetologist the perfect environment for the endeavor.
“I’ve always done hair,” said Schwenke. “My mother was a cosmetologist. My husband, Mike, and I purchased the building about twelve years ago and I’ve always thought it would be nice to put a cool salon up here.”
Although it took the couple some time to renovate the salon room, the beautifully refinished hardwood floors, original woodwork and stained glass windows are a tribute to taking the time to “do it right”.
