Orthopedic Services On The Rise At Kearney County Health Services

Kearney County Health Services Orthopedic Surgery services are on the rise. With Dr. Jeffrey Schopp MD, an experienced surgery staff, and new state of the art equipment, patients are able to have simple and more complicated procedures done closer to home.

“When we first started orthopedics, we were doing carpal tunnel repairs and similar basic procedures. We can still do those cases, but we’ve progressed so we’re expanding the kinds of cases we’re seeing,” KCHS Chief Nursing Officer Kendra Brown said. “We can do knee and shoulder arthroscopes and tendon releases, but most exciting are the total knee replacements that we’ve started doing.”

Two total knee replacement surgeries have been performed at KCHS since September. The facility uses a custom total knee for the procedures. Patients are measured with a CT scan and an artificial knee is built specifically for the patient using the measurements.
