Patrons Share Opinions On Failed Bond Election

“And the survey says…..” The results have been tabulated from The Minden Courier’s voter survey regarding the September 10th school bond special election. The Courier staff was pleased to receive  167 completed surveys and we want to thank everyone who took the time to submit one.
The $25.9 million school bond issue for Minden was defeated in September by a margin of 132 votes. After the election, the Courier designed a survey to give voters an opportunity to express the reasons behind their votes.
The survey was published in the September 18th, 25th and October 2nd issues of The Minden Courier. An on-line survey was also available through the Courier’s website and was posted on Facebook.
One-hundred people completed the on-line survey and 67 written surveys were received at the Courier office. The survey asked the following questions: 1) How did you vote on this Minden school bond issue? 2) If you voted FOR the school bond, please tell us why. 3) If you voted AGAINST the school bond, please tell us why. 4) What steps do you hope the school board and administration will take next?
