Due to current 50% attendance restrictions, a private funeral service for Paul J. Artz will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. at the Huntley United Methodist Church in Huntley, Nebraska with Reverend Marcia Dorn officiating. Following the funeral service all friends are invited to the public graveside service at 2:00 p.m. at the Bainbridge Cemetery, northwest of Huntley in Harlan County, Nebraska.
Due to health concerns, regarding the COVID-19 pandemic; current CDC and Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services guidelines for Faith-Based Services will be followed. Paul James Artz, 59 years of age, of Hildreth, Nebraska, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at the Harlan County Health System in Alma, Nebraska.
Paul was born October 6, 1961 in Alma, the youngest of four children of Lewis and Barbara (Riley) Artz. Paul was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Huntley.
Paul attended grammar school in Huntley until the 8th grade, and then graduated from Wilcox High School at Wilcox, Nebraska with the class of 1979. He then pursued higher education at Colby Community College in Colby, Kansas. Following his education at Colby, Paul returned home to the family farm at Huntley, where he farmed with his father, Lewis.
On March 1, 1986, he was united in marriage to Robin Dickenson at the United Methodist Church in Huntley and to this union the couple were blessed with one son, Payden. The family made their home in the Huntley area.
Paul and Robin farmed in Harlan County until 1995. They then relocated to Hildreth, where Paul continued to be employed in the agriculture industry. In 2007, Paul began a career in the pipeline industry working for Price Gregory International as a fuel truck driver advancing his way forward to his most current position as Assistant Chief Pipeline Inspector for Patriot Inspection Services. He was very proud to work in the pipeline industry and while working traveled the United States making many friends along the way. While home, Paul cherished time spent with his grandsons: Kason and Kohen. They were the apple of Papa’s eye.
This year Paul was fortunate to help family friend, Jerry with fall harvest and enjoyed working with the harvest crew.
Paul enjoyed hunting with his son, Payden and his friends. He also enjoyed spending time on the family farm.
Paul was preceded in death by his father, Lewis; and several aunts and uncles.
He leaves to celebrate his life; his wife, Robin Artz of Hildreth; his son, Payden Artz and Brittany and grandsons: Kason and Kohen of Republican City, Nebraska; his mother, Barbara Artz of Minden, Nebraska; brother, Brent Artz and his wife, Holly of Wilcox; sister, Teresa Blank and her husband, Dale of Hildreth; brother, Monte Artz and his wife, Hanah of Georgetown, South Carolina; and a host of nieces and nephews; other relatives; and many treasured friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Wilcox.
