Bids for the S Road and 500 Block road project were scheduled to be opened during the January 19 regular meeting of the Kearney County Board of Supervisors, but no bids were submitted.
Highway Superintendent Randy Smith explained the June completion date for the project discouraged contractors from submitting bids as their schedules are full at this time. He suggested rebidding the project with a completion date in November in order to garner bids. The board discussed with Smith how the new timeline would affect his budget since the project won’t be completed until the next fiscal year. Following the discussion, a motion was approved to re-let the project for bids with the new November completion date. Bids will be opened on March 2 at 10:00 a.m.
The board also set a date for the One & Six Year Road Hearing. The hearing will be held on February 16 at 11:00 a.m.
