When the Harold Warp Pioneer Village Foundation Board announced a relaunch and new direction for Pioneer Village in July, they asked for volunteers to help restore the local treasure. Several members of the community responded and renovation projects to prepare the museum for the 2022 season have begun.
The board and a variety of community members spent two days working with a professional strategic planner to create a comprehensive plan to help guide the renovation of Pioneer Village now and into the future.
“We are in the first 90 days of that strategic plan and the effort there is the relaunch of the Village. The initial objective is to get funding and help enhance the presence of the Village in the hearts and minds of the people of Minden, Kearney County, and Nebraska,” Pioneer Village volunteer coordinator Jerry Kershner said. “We’re trying to wake people up to the fact that it is a public foundation and it literally belongs to all of us and it’s something we could be proud of.”
