Pohl Named NRCSA Outstanding Principal Of The Year

Nebraska Rural Community Schools Association (NRCSA) honors the excellence of dedicated faculty, administrators, and boards of member schools annually. Award recipients are recognized for their leadership skills and character in promoting quality education in rural Nebraska. Included in this year’s award recipients was East Elementary Principal Sandy Pohl who received the NRCSA Outstanding Principal Award on March 18.

The award was a surprise to Pohl who believed she was attending the Spring Conference to present information about Minden Public Schools. The realization that she was this year’s NRCSA Outstanding Principal Award recipient came as MPS Superintendent Jim Widdifield gave the award presentation speech.

Widdifield opened his speech with, “This year’s NRCSA Outstanding Principal Award recipient is recognized for being genuinely interested in helping others. One colleague states, “Our principal is the type of leader that inspires others to do better because of her ability to lead within the group instead of dictating behind a desk.”
