Positive Power Of Leadership
A leader can be described as a person who guides or influence others.
The positive power of leadership is the focus of a one-day leadership training event to be held at the Minden Opera House on Friday, May 6.
This is the second year Minden has hosted the leadership event which attracts business, organizational and individuals from across the region who are interested in creating positive change at work, home and in their communities.
The Chick-fil-A Leadercast is a one day leadership training event broadcast Live from Atlanta, Georgia to hundreds of sites throughout the nation. This year’s program will focus on how individuals and teams can use their voices to create positive change.
Participants will be treated to an outstanding line-up of motivational speakers who include: Seth Godin, Entrepreneur, marketing expert, and best selling author of twelve books; Robin Roberts, anchor of ABC’s Emmy-winning show, “Good Morning America”; John Maxwell, leadership expert and best-selling author of many leadership books; Dave Ramsey, personal money-management expert and best selling author; Sir Ken Robinson, best selling author in the development of creativity in human resources; Dan Cathy, president and COO of the Chick-fil-A restaurant chain; Muhtar Kent, chairman of the board and CEO of the Coca-Cola Company; Suzy Welch, best-selling author, television commentator and business journalist; Mack Brown, head coach of the Texas Longhorns, Big 12 Coach of the Year 2009; Erin Gruwell, founder and president of Freedom Writers Foundation and Frans Johansson, best-selling author of The Medici Effect.
The idea for the Chick-fil-A Leadercast was conceived eleven years ago by Dr. John C. Maxwell. Maxwell wanted to combine his influential voice in the community with his desire to reach leaders at the heart level.
Building on the success of last year’s leadercast event, Dick Phillips, event organizer, has worked tirelessly getting the necessary local sponsorship to make the event possible.
“We have had generous sponsorship from the Minden area,” said Phillips. “These local sponsors help us keep the ticket price so reasonable. I would like to stress that this leadership event is not just for businesses or organizations, individuals are encouraged and welcomed to attend. This leadership event speaks to the heart on many levels.”
Minden Public School Superintendent Melissa Wheelock attended last year’s event. She commented, “With great anticipation, I am looking forward to the upcoming Chick-fil-A Leadercast on May 6. After attending the event last year, I left with a renewed appreciation of the power of positive leadership and the changes that can be fostered through dedication, drive, and commitment. It truly is one of the best staff development opportunities I have attended in recent years.”
To date, more than 100 tickets have been sold for the event.
Pastor Tom Barnes, Evangelical Free Church, stated, ” Someone once said, ‘Leadership is not about position or achievement. It is a relationship of influence that flows from a person’s character. Leaders are people who influence others. Leadership is not just a job—it is a way of living.’ Anyone who has sought to lead others or studied leadership from any time at all will agree that this is not just a quote….but a reality! That is why I’m excited about Chick-fil-A Leadercast. My experience with last year’s event is that ‘they get it.’ Because they do, you will find Leadercast challenging, stretching, useful and very rewarding.”

Session 1 begins at 8:00 a.m. with session 2 beginning at 10:00 a.m. A noon lunch will be served at 11:15 a.m. with Session 3 beginning at 12:30 p.m. followed by Session 4 at 2:30.
