Progress
The dry, unseasonably warm autumn weather has not only helped with a speedy harvest, but also speedy construction at the Minden West Estates Senior Duplex housing project. To date, four of eight planned duplexes stand where only a few short months ago ground breaking activities were held.
The first unit could be ready for occupancy as early as January of 2011.
The project is still on track to be completed in April, said Jim Mooberry, Leasing Agent for Excel Development Group, and the company will begin leasing as soon as they receive Certificates of Occupancy.
“We’ve had great interest from Minden and the neighboring areas,” said Mooberry. “We currently have 30 names on the waiting list. Of course, some will not income qualify and other may change their minds so we’ll be taking more names throughout construction.”
Minden West Estates is a tax credit housing project located at the northeast corner of Road 31 and Sycamore Street on the west side of the city of Minden.
The project has been made possible through funding sources including FHL Bank of Topeka, Horizon Bank in Waverly, Nebraska Economic Development, Nebraska Investment Finance Authority (NIFA), Minden Exchange Bank and Trust with assistance from the city of Minden.
The housing project will consist of 16 town homes (8 duplexes). Fourteen units will be two bedroom and two units will be three bedroom. All units will be one level, with zero entry design and have their own single attached garage.
