Public Advocates For Ag Education At MPS School Board Meeting

The May 13 regular meeting of the Minden Public Schools Board of Education was well attended by the public. Parents, alumni, agriculture industry workers, and Franklin FFA students took advantage of the open forum for public comments to advocate for FFA and Agriculture Education in Minden schools. The speakers built a strong case for introducing FFA and Ag Ed and provided contact information and resources to assist the board if they choose to pursue the curriculum.
A hearing was opened for public comment regarding the reaffirmation of Policy 5416 Student Fees, 6400 Parental Involvement, and 5415 Anti-Bullying. No public comment was made and the hearing was closed.
Minden 4-12 Vocal instructor Carla Jacobs and 5-12 Band instructor John Jacobs turned in resignations. The teachers have accepted positions in Grand Island. The board accepted with regret both resignations.
