Putnam Bound For FCCLA National Competition

MHS sophomore Ashtynn Putnam will compete at the 2018 FCCLA National Competition in Atlanta, Georgia June 30 – July 1. She earned the runner-up title in Fashion Construction at the state competition securing her place at the national meet.
Fashion Construction is an individual event in which participants construct a garment in advance using several construction techniques. During the competition they set up a display, give a presentation about their work, and answer questions from judges. For her competition piece, Putnam created a unique black dress with a full lace overlay.
“I combined two patterns that I found on Pinterest and made a dress out of it. I really liked two of them, but I couldn’t find the dress I wanted so I came up with my own design in a way,” Putnam said.
