Record Number Of Bands For Twentieth Annual Bandfest Parade

The 20th annual Minden Bandfest, sponsored by the Minden Chamber of Commerce,  is set for Saturday, October 16th in Minden, with a 1:00 p.m. parade on Brown Avenue (Hwy 10), and 3:00 p.m. field competition at Kuper Field.
Thirty-six bands made up of 1,412 students from across Nebraska will be marching in the parade, with nine bands set to perform in the field competition. This is the largest number of bands ever participating.  “It’s great to have such a nice turnout for our 20th year….it’ll be a busy day in Minden, and we’ll put out the welcome mat.” said event coordinator Todd Jensen
The Highway detour will go into place about 12:15 p.m.. “We would encourage spectators to follow the detour around to the downtown, where you can then find parking along the east side of the parade route from there.”
Preparation begins early each year. “The first thing is getting the date set a year in advance, to coordinate as much as possible with the schools, and depending on when the NSBA state competitions are held.”
Judges this year will be: Duane Bierman, UNK Director; Virgil French, North Platte; and Dave Klein, Kearney.
