Rosalie was born on October 1, 1932, near Sappa Peak in rural Harlan County, Nebraska to Oscar and Adrene (Williams) Youngquist. She grew up in Stamford, Nebraska and graduated from Stamford High School in 1950. On February 4, 1951, she married Gordon Petersen at the Stamford Christian Church and they proudly celebrated 67 years of marriage before Gordon’s death on November 7, 2018.

Rosalie loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and was a member of the Minden Evangelical Free Church. She honored the Lord with a servant’s heart. Rosalie prayed for her children and grandchildren every day of their lives and was a Godly example for them and others to follow. She demonstrated and was defined by the fruit of the spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Rosalie enjoyed music (especially Gospel), square dancing, traveling with friends, and was an avid sports fan who enjoyed cheering for the Minden Whippets (especially when her kids and grandkids were involved) and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. She could often be found in the yard, tending to her flowers. She never saw a leaf on the ground that she didn’t need to pick up or a weed that she didn’t feel compelled to pull. When not looking down for something to tend, she was looking up, watching birds and marveling at the beauty of the sky.

Rosalie has been reunited in heaven with Gordon and her mother, father, stepmother Mildred (Eigsti), brother Arlo Youngquist, brother-in-law Sidney Petersen, sister-in-law Garnette Petersen Doty, nephew Rick Petersen, niece Colleen Youngquist, granddaughter Angelica Petersen and great-granddaughter Vesper Petersen.

She is survived by her son Steve Petersen and his wife Anna of Minden; daughter Karen Blackerby of Minden and her husband Bob of Orlando, Florida; son Brian Petersen and his wife Barb of Minden; daughter Amy Sturgis and her husband Rob of Omaha; 10 grandchildren: Ryan Petersen (Lauren), Mark Petersen (Michala), Brook Craig (Jason), Carissa Palmberg (Karl), Beau Blackerby, Kimberly White (Mahlon), Bennett Petersen (Chelsey), Bailey Bolte (Cody), Brianna Paxton (Attison), and Brayden Petersen (Kelli); 25 great-grandchildren: Vaughn, Leif, Finley and Meadow Petersen; Myka, Marlie, Merek and Maddyn Petersen; Paben, Kylin, Alyah and Rowan Craig; Russell, Ava, Nehemiah, Anna and Selah Palmberg; Madison, Noah and Grayson White; Bowen, Brynlee, Blair and Blane Petersen; Ryker Bolte; sister-in-law Mary Youngquist; nieces: Rita Garner, Lynelle Youngquist, Patricia Hansen (Keith), Rebecca Haapanen (Len), Catherine Petersen; and many grand and great-grandnieces and nephews.
