The Axtell Wildcats and Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons boys basketball teams met in Wilcox as the two area rivals battled in a Fort Kearny Conference contest and bragging rights on the line for the year.
Bryce Runge put the Cats on his shoulders and carried the Wildcats to a 14 point victory over the Falcons 56-42. Runge scored a game-high 29 points while pulling down a season-high 17 rebounds and added six steals. Karter Rush added eight points and came up huge on the glass with 15 rebounds.
Axtell improves its record to 6-7 while the Falcons fall to 1-12.
The Falcons were led by Clint Gardels who put up a double-double of 21 points and 21 rebounds to keep WH close in the contest. Clay Blank also reached double figures for the Falcons with ten points.
