Werner Construction will be expanding their sand and gravel mining near the Platte River now that their special use permit was approved by the Kearney County Board of Supervisors.
The county board met on Tuesday, December 2nd, and held a public hearing for the special use permit request that Werner Construction had filed to develop a new sand and gravel pit on their property adjacent to Highway 10, north of Minden. Terry Wilhelms from Werner Construction was present at the public hearing to answer questions.
The company is making the request to expand aggregate mining on their property along the south channel of the Platte River to cut down on the amount of material they will need to ship in to complete stage two and stage three of the Cherry Avenue bypass project in Kearney.
