The Minden Public Schools Board of Education addressed the Summer Projects 2020 list during the May 11 regular meeting. The short list included several large projects including replacing sidewalk that was removed from the Outdoor Classroom years ago and key fobs and security cameras.
Superintendent Jim Widdifield had good news to report on the walking area project. The district received a lower bid than anticipated for the removal of sidewalk in preparation of regrading the area for ADA compliance. The bid will result in significant savings to the overall cost of the project.
Grants are also available for safety and security that could offset some of the cost of the key fob and camera upgrades. Widdifield will pursue the grants and prioritize projects for the best use of district funds. The 2020 summer projects up to $75,000 were approved.
