School Board Approves Marching Band Uniform Purchase
The Minden High School marching band will be sporting a new look next Fall. The Minden Public Schools Board of Education approved the purchase of band uniforms from Fruhauf Uniforms in conjunction with funding from the Minden Band Boosters and Minden School Foundation during the February 14 regular meeting.
Replacing the aging marching band uniforms has been a priority for Band instructor Matt Stubbs since he was hired. Sharing his urgency, the Minden Band Boosters set to work raising money to help speed up the acquisition. The group started with a balance of $1,400 and set to work on several fundraising ventures including a quilt raffle, soup supper, egg my yard event, and turning in scrap iron and aluminum. The Band Boosters received $3,745 in donations, earned $8,840 minus expenses working concessions, raised $3,742 minus expenses through fundraising projects, and turned in $18,387 worth of scrap metal. Their combined efforts have raised $32,706 towards the new uniforms. Rusty Rhynalds noted the Minden School Foundation has and additional $5,000 to contribute to the purchase of uniforms.
