School Board Approves Teacher Contracts Pending Background Check

The Minden School Board covered a lot of ground during the February 8 regular meeting including filling teaching vacancies for next school year.

Kylee Stepp will leave her position as fourth grade teacher at C.L. Jones Middle School to become the new Title 1 teacher at East Elementary for the 2021-22 school year. After interviewing for the fourth grade teaching position, administrators recommended hiring Amanda Swift. She comes from Denver Public Schools with 15 years experience, several teaching awards, and high praise from the district..

Several applications were submitted for the high school Spanish teaching position. The interviewing team reported both applicants that were interviewed were impressive, but their recommendation was for Bryce Sweeney. He is currently completing his internship and student teaching in Grand Island. The board approved the contracts of Amanda Swift as 4th Grade Teacher and Bryce Sweeney as High School Spanish Teacher for the 2021-22 school year, pending a background check.
