Second Half Scoring Explosion Lifts Minden Past Lex
The Minden Whippets boys basketball team won their second straight contest on Dec. 4 when they hosted the Lexington Minutemen when the two old Southwest Conference combatants played in C.L. Jones Gymnasium.
Minden got its second big game performance from senior Isaac Carlson. Carlson scored 24 points, added 11 steals and had six rebounds as the Dawgs were too much in the second half for Lexington, running away with a convincing 64-39 victory.
Minden shot the ball well going 21 of 40 from the field and 5 of 12 from three-points shooting a combined 50 percent from the field.
Carlson would lead three Whippets in double figures followed by RJ Watson with 15 points while also chipping in with eight rebounds, four assists and three steals. Nic Werner came off the bench to add 10 points including a pair of three-pointers.
Minden improves its record to 2-1 on the season.
