St. Cecilia topped Minden 32-25 in Minden on January 12. The Lady Whippets fell to 10-3.
There was a lot of excellent defense on display in the contest between rated teams. Unfortunately for Minden , an 18-possession scoring drought beginning in the second period and extending well into the third led to its undoing. During that time St. Cecilia had an 18-0 point advantage. It began with the Whippets up 14-8 at 4:00 of the second and ended with Minden down 14-26. Mattie Kamery’s free throw with one second left in the third broke the scoreless streak and was the Whippets only point in the period.
Minden did close to within five, 23-28, at 4:40 of the fourth. In that run, Sloane Beck scored five points and Priscila Madriz made a trey. Trinity Houchin’s bucket at 0:26 was not enough to offset the four points that the Hawks produced.
