The Minden City Council worked their way through the long September 16 agenda fairly quickly. Included in the action items was the consideration of proceeding with storm water piping at 8th Street and Hubbard Avenue.
A revised estimate for additional storm sewer work was provided by Olsson Associates. At approximately $92,000, the pricing was significantly higher than the council anticipated for the project extending the storm sewer south to the existing culvert and replacing the existing culvert under Hubbard Avenue.
Olsson Associates informed the council through correspondence that the City could be paying premium for the work since it would be a change order instead of a competitively bid project. Their recommendation was to not complete the work at this time and consider it as a future project. Olsson Associates verified the additional storm sewer work isn’t necessary at this time and the drainage will still function as needed without the work being completed. No action was taken and the council moved on.
