Summer Lunch Box Feeds Children In Axtell

Children from Axtell and Funk are eating healthy and hearty lunches this summer thanks to the First Presbyterian Church in Axtell’s Summer Lunch Box Program. Now in its seventh year, the program provides a free hot lunch to children in the community Monday through Friday starting on May 28 and running through July 31.
The program was started by the former pastor at the Presbyterian Church, Erica Harley. Reverend Harley moved two years ago and Outreach Committee Chairperson Bette Dimon stepped into the leadership role along with the church’s new pastor, Reverend Kathleen Splitt. Dimon has been involved with the program for the last three years.
