Summer Lunches Begins May 31

This summer the Minden Rotary and the Kearney County Ministerial Alliance, under the oversight of the Minden Public Schools, is once again offering a summer lunch program. Lunches will be served at the East Elementary School cafeteria for all children and youth ages 1-18 to eat for free. Through a generous donation by the Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska any adult who is accompanying a child may eat for free also. The program will run Monday through Thursday, May 31 through July 28. The cafeteria opens at 11:30 AM and food will be served until 12:30 PM.  The cafeteria will close at 1 PM.  All children are encouraged to attend and have a well-balanced hot meal.
The program is run by volunteers within the community of Minden. Volunteers help with the preparation and serving of the food. Volunteers must go through a background check which is paid for by the school.  Sign up to volunteer and fill out a background form at any Minden or Fredricksburg church. Background forms should be turned in to the Superintendent’s office. If anyone has any questions about the program or volunteering please call 832-0930.
