Sumstine Heads Up North Ward Primary
Teresa Sumstine overcame the competition in her bid to join the city council, representing the north ward. Sumstine received 178 votes. Running against her, Howard Maxon received 65 votes, Scott Pinkham got 53, incumbent councilman Mike Kleen had 36 and Jared Jenkins had 21 votes in his favor. Sumstine and Maxon will move on to the general election in November.
Lathan Thompson and John Osgood will both be moving on to the general election for the south ward city council seat. Both the incumbent Thompson and challenger Osgood received 120 votes from the south and center wards which the seat represents. Thompson received six votes from early ballots and Osgood received five to give him a slight edge in the primary. Dolores Barncord was also running for the seat, and gained 79 votes.
