Following the approval of the outdoor facilities proposal from W Design during their regular meeting, the Minden Public Schools Board of Education held a special meeting on April 12 to determine how to proceed.
The project has five areas of focus: the grandstand, field lighting, restrooms/concessions, grading/drainage, and the track. The grandstand and restrooms/concessions were marked as priority by the Building Committee.
In the process of renovating the grandstand to be ADA compliant, a light pole will need to be relocated at a cost of $40,000. Also, the current light poles have nearly reached their 50 year lifespan. Replacing the current lights with LED and decreasing the number of stadium lights by half will result in energy cost savings.
