Discussion concerning the County’s COVID-19 policy was revisited during the May 5 regular meeting of the Kearney County Board of Supervisors. County Attorney Melodie Bellamy asked if the board would like to leave the policy in place, make amendments, or rescind it.
Two concerns brought the topic back for discussion. First is the possibility that employees could ‘double dip’ by receiving both County and Federal COVID leave benefits. Second is a question of which quarantine guidelines should be used and if voluntary travel to hotspots should be eligible for COVID leave.
After a lengthy discussion, the supervisors took no action leaving the policy in place as it was written. The matter will be revisited at the next regular meeting.
