The Kearney County Board of Supervisors met September 6. The meeting began with the board opening the FY 22-23 budget hearing.
Supervisor Larry Landstrom presented the proposed budget for fiscal year 22-23. After a short review of the budget noting the proposed levy is down and valuation is up, the hearing was closed. A special hearing to set the final tax request at a different amount than the prior year was opened. After a brief discussion the hearing was closed. Following the hearings, the board approved a resolution to set the final tax request at a different amount than the prior year tax request. Continuing with budget business, the board approved a 1% Restricted Funds authority limit. A resolution of adoption and appropriations was approved. Cash transfer from the General Fund to the Road Fund was also approved. Next on the agenda was consideration of County IT services from SoarinGroup Group. County Attorney Melodie Bellamy told the board the committee working to find tech support for the County had interviewed several companies and feels SoarinGroup is the best fit for Kearney County.
