The Kearney County Board of Supervisors took action on Roads projects and commissioner districts and discussed courthouse dome damage during the November 2 regular meeting.
Craig Lupkes informed the board that while putting Christmas lights on the dome, City of Minden employees found some significant cancer at the top of the dome where the flag pole attaches. Pictures of the damage were taken and Lupkes reported other areas where rust is beginning to show through.
He suggested to the board having an engineer identify other potential areas of concern and contract with a company to fix them all. Lupkes will put a temporary seal over the damage to keep the weather out until a more substantial repair can be completed in the Spring. The board directed Lupkes to move forward with contacting Berggren Architects to complete an assessment of the courthouse roof and dome.
