The April 6 regular meeting of the Kearney County Board of Supervisors got started with updates from the Central District annual meeting. Officials who attended the meeting provided information on the discussion topics to the rest of the board.
Highlights from the annual meeting included discussion regarding redistricting counties, American Rescue Plan funds, and legislation affecting Inheritance Tax, tax asking, and library funding. Census information used to determine districts within the county will be received later than usual which may result in the need to use GIS to hasten the districting process for election filing purposes.
Guidelines for qualifying uses of American Rescue Plan funds will be discussed during budget workshops. The funds will need to be kept in a separate account from other County funds. The supervisors adopted a resolution to pen a separate fund for COVID American Rescue Plan funds.
