The Kearney County Board of Supervisors held a public hearing for final plats of Summer Haven Fifth and Summer Haven Seventh during the July 5 regular meeting. Zoning Administrator Joe Anderson explained this will nearly finish the platting of Summer Haven except for property owners who chose not to be included.
Four properties are not included in the final plat as the owners opted out. Several Summer Haven residents spoke during the public hearing. One resident who chose to opt out of the platting agreement told the board she did so on the advice of her lawyer because of special assessments and HOA being included in the agreement. Another resident told the board he wants the final plat approved so he can purchase the property he currently leases.
Darrel Weiss told the board the final plat could have been completed 18 months ago, but it was delayed because of the property owners who don’t want to be included in the final plat. Their refusal to sign the agreement resulted in additional time and costs to have the plat drawn up without their properties included. Anderson noted those properties could be platted in the future in a separate plat.
