A public hearing was held for the 2100 block of 23 Road during the April 16 meeting of the Kearney County Board of Supervisors.
Highway Superintendent Randy Smith suggested vacating the section of 23 Road between V and W Roads. The work required to bring the road up to code would be extensive and expensive. Smith told the supervisors the road is seldom used except by adjacent land owners getting into their fields.
The adjacent land owners attended the hearing. They said the County has never maintained the road. Both stated they have no problem with the County vacating the road. The hearing was closed and the supervisors directed Smith to draft a resolution to vacate that portion of road with the land to revert to the adjacent land owners.
