The Kearney County Board of Supervisors met twice last week. A regular meeting was held on January 5. Newly elected and reelected officials were sworn in on January 7 followed by a Reorganizational meeting of the Board of Supervisors.
During the regular meeting Luke Poore, CEO and Gavin Blum, CNO from Kearney County Health Services provided an overview of the KCHS financials while Dr. Cade Craig, MD gave an update on COVID-19 vaccines. Blum informed the board the operating loss at the facility has seen a significant shift in the last ten years due to several operation changes. KCHS is getting closer to becoming financially self sufficient with positive year end balances for the past several years. Operating income from the facility is now being funneled back into making capital improvements rather than relying on County funds or bonds for those projects.
