Terri L. Shanahan, 58, of Axtell, died Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Kearney Regional Medical Center.
Terri was born Sept. 10, 1960 in Grand Island to Delmar and Valarie (Etherton) Sielaff.
She grew up in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island High School in 1978.
She graduated from Joseph College of Beauty in Lincoln in 1980. She went on to become an instructor of cosmetology and was appointed School Director at the Kearney location in October 1982 where she worked until she retired from there in 2011. During that time she also completed and received her barbering license. After her retirement from Joseph’s she began working at Kats Korner Market in Axtell where she remained employed until her death.
On Nov. 10, 1984 she married Jim Shanahan in Kearney. They lived in Kearney until 1987 when they moved to the family farm northwest of Axtell. From this unity they were blessed with three children, Michael, Malory and Sara.
She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Kearney and the Catholic Daughters.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and especially enjoyed visiting with family and friends on the front porch of her home.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Jim of Axtell; daughters, Malory Arnhold and husband, Adam and grandson, Riggin of Hays, Kan., Sara Holloway and husband, Tanner and grandchildren, Landon, William, Thomas and Grace; sisters, Deb Schrack and husband, Brad of Kearney and Wendy Borden and special friend, Randy Kruger of Hastings.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Michael and twin sister, Karin Sheen.
Mass of Christian Burial was Aug. 5 at St. James Catholic Church in Kearney with Father Mike McDonald officiating.
Burial was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Axtell.
Memorials are suggested to the family for designation at a later date.
