The final design work for the Sand Creek Recharge Dam east of Minden was approved December 11 at the Tri-Basin Natural Resource district monthly meeting in Holdrege.
The project was tabled at last month’s meeting because of uncertainty of permits required to build the structure. After much discussion Director Dave Nelson of Upland made the motion to proceed with the final study at a cost of $90,020. Eighty thousand has been budgeted in this year’s fiscal budget for the study.
The Kearney County Board of Supervisors agreed to pay $12,020 of the study which would allow a road to be built across the dam. This would give the county a through road from Highway 74 north which it presently doesn’t have. The study will be done by R2D Consulting Groups and take around nine months to complete.
