Tri-Basin NRD Changes Focus

The Tri-Basin NRD has dropped Site 1 from consideration for the Sand Creek Recharge reservoir project and will focus instead on Sites 2 and 3.
The decision to eliminate Site 1 from consideration was made at the Tri -Basin board meeting held Tuesday evening at the district office in Holdrege.
Site 1, near Heartwell, was the subject of controversy at an earlier landowner meeting held at the Kearney County fairgrounds. Landowners Dan Bridges and Jenni George led opposition against a recharge reservoir at the site because it would adversely affect their farmland and livelihoods.
